Type B thermocouple

Thermocouples type B

Discover our line of products that contain Type B thermocouple

Made up of Platinum wires with 30% Rhodium, as a positive thermoelement, and Platinum with 6% Rhodium, as a negative thermoelement.

It is suitable for continuous measurement from 870°C to 1700°C, and up to 1820°C for short periods. It is recommended for continuous use in oxidizing or inert atmospheres.

It is also suitable for use in a vacuum for short periods. It should not be used in reducing atmospheres or in those containing metallic or non-metallic vapors. It should never be inserted directly into a metallic primary protection tube. Requires the use of high alumina ceramic insulators and protection tubes.

When compared to types S and R, the main advantages of this type are: Operation at higher temperatures, better stability and increased mechanical resistance. It has reduced sensitivity, around 10 µV/ºC for temperatures above 1090 ºC, and high cost.
